Smooth, silky, shiny hair without a salon? Yes, please!
Living in Dubai is fantastic, though sadly there is one caveat – humidity. Like me, many women suffer from frizz and the daily challenges our hair faces in this climate. The majority of us have given up and ventured to salons to rescue our coifs.
However, since COVID many of us have significantly reduced our spending habits, which means we have to look to home alternatives to help us solve our problems.
There has been a lot of buzz around the GHD Duet Style and the Dyson Airstrait. I set out to put them through their paces while providing a suitable bang for your buck. I purchased both and followed the instructions to find the tool that would finally tame my mane. In terms of price, they’re both in the AED 2,000 ballpark, so not a small investment.
While both claim to achieve the straight sleek look, there is one clear winner.
A great selling point for the GHD Duet style is that it with heat resistant protective plates, it claims to dry wet hair and less frizz in one flick of a wrist, cutting time by using air fusion technology which combines drying and heat technologies in one setting.
Sadly, I found this wasn’t the case, and even after 40 minutes my hair was still wavy and flat. Frustrated, I wet my hair again and had my reservations about trying the Dyson Airstrait.
Its features also have the option of using it directly on wet and dry hair. Heat levels vary ensuring comfort based on preferences and sound levels are reasonable. Unlike GHD it has no hot plates and guarantees no heat damage, meaning the air is heated and projected evenly.
While the Dyson might be marginally heavier, its sleek design made it a lot easier to use. The easy-to-grip handle allows you to move between sections easily. It also turns off while you resection your hair, making it a bit more sustainable.
What stood out most of all was how fast it gave me my desired look. My long hair went from wet to dry in less than eight minutes. More importantly, it was sleek.
From my findings the Dyson Airstrait is the superior product and I won’t use anything else.
