Hair Rituel by Sisley Rethinks Hair Ageing

Hair care has increasingly moved beyond the hair itself. While shampoos, conditioners and treatments have traditionally focused on improving the appearance and texture of strands, a growing understanding of the scalp is changing the way brands approach hair health.

Hair Rituel by Sisley has been exploring that relationship since its launch in 2018. Created by the Sisley group, the brand entered the market with a clear ambition: to approach hair ageing and hair loss through high-performance skincare-inspired science.

Its first major success came with the Revitalizing Fortifying Serum. Designed to address the signs associated with ageing hair and hair loss, the treatment quickly became a global bestseller and went on to receive 69 international awards.

But even as the original serum was establishing itself internationally, Sisley’s laboratories were already looking beyond the formula itself.

The next area of research was the scalp microbiota — the complex ecosystem of microorganisms living on the scalp and an area that has increasingly attracted scientific attention.

The result is Revitalizing Fortifying Super Serum Advanced Formula, a more comprehensive evolution of the original treatment designed to address both the hair and the environment in which it grows.

Looking beneath the hair

Hair can be one of the most visible expressions of age, health and wellbeing, yet the scalp often receives far less attention than the lengths and ends.

Hair Rituel by Sisley’s research has focused on changing that perspective.

According to the brand’s findings, an unbalanced scalp microbiota can affect the condition of the hair, leaving it less healthy, less firmly anchored and more prone to falling out. That insight has become a central part of the development of the new Super Serum.

“This programme dedicated to the scalp is one of the most ambitious projects our laboratories have undertaken in the last five years. And the results are better than we could have imagined!” says Philippe d’Ornano, President of the Sisley group.

The statement reflects a broader shift in the beauty industry, where the distinction between skincare and haircare is becoming increasingly blurred.

The scalp is skin, after all. It has its own barrier, ecosystem and environmental challenges. Treating it with the same level of attention traditionally given to facial skincare represents a significant change in how hair health is approached.

For consumers concerned about thinning, weakening or ageing hair, the distinction is important. Improving the appearance of hair can provide an immediate cosmetic benefit, but supporting the scalp addresses the foundation from which the hair emerges.

That is the space Hair Rituel by Sisley has chosen to explore.

Fifteen active ingredients

The new Revitalizing Fortifying Super Serum Advanced Formula retains the core of the original serum while expanding its approach.

The advanced formula contains 15 active ingredients, each selected and used at its optimal concentration. Five new ingredients have been added, including several chosen specifically for their relationship with the scalp microbiota.

Among them is natural-origin Ginger extract, which is used for its anti-inflammatory properties and its role in helping to limit hair loss.

Tetrapeptide takes another approach. The ingredient is intended to promote the growth of existing hair while strengthening its anchorage, reinforcing the serum’s focus on both hair density and retention.

Vitamin B12 addresses another dimension of scalp care. Known for its soothing properties, it targets scalp discomfort and also contributes to the formula’s naturally pink colour.

The combination creates a treatment that is not simply an updated version of the original product. It represents a broader understanding of what high-performance haircare can mean.

Instead of focusing exclusively on what can be seen in the mirror, the formula considers the biological environment beneath the hair as part of the overall equation.

That is perhaps the most important evolution in the product.

Hair ageing is rarely one-dimensional. Changes in density, texture, strength and scalp comfort can occur simultaneously. A treatment designed to address several of these concerns at once reflects the increasingly sophisticated expectations of today’s beauty consumer.

A new chapter in hair health

The original Revitalizing Fortifying Serum established Hair Rituel by Sisley as a serious player in premium haircare. The Super Serum Advanced Formula now builds on that foundation with a stronger emphasis on scalp science.

The brand reports visible results from the first month of use, including amplified hair mass and a marked improvement in hair quality.

Those claims form part of a wider proposition that treats hair as a living extension of the scalp rather than simply a cosmetic material.

It is an approach that mirrors the evolution of skincare over the past decade. Consumers have become more interested in ingredients, formulation science and long-term skin health, and haircare is beginning to follow the same trajectory.

The scalp microbiota may still be a relatively specialised subject for many consumers, but its inclusion in mainstream premium haircare signals how quickly the category is developing.

Hair Rituel by Sisley’s latest innovation therefore arrives at an interesting point in the evolution of hair beauty. The conversation is no longer limited to volume, shine or styling. It is increasingly about the conditions that allow hair to remain healthy in the first place.

With its new Super Serum, the brand is placing the scalp firmly at the centre of that conversation.

And perhaps that is where the next chapter of haircare begins — not with what happens to the hair after it grows, but with what happens beneath it.
