A Normal Day unveils playful steak collaboration with BedouinFoodie

Limited-edition steak dish crowns classic flavours

A Normal Day, the popular neighbourhood bistro in Dar Al Wasl, has announced its most ambitious collaboration yet with culinary storyteller and Instagram personality Hani AlMaki, known to his 34,000 followers as BedouinFoodie.

Launched on Friday, 12th December, the limited-edition dish, titled The Crown, reinterprets classic French bistro staples with a contemporary twist. Drawing inspiration from Steak Frites and Steak au Poivre, the plate centres on a filet mignon steak topped with an oversized Italian ravioli filled with cacio e pepe, while crisp fries are served on the side.

Designed to feel both familiar and theatrical, the standout moment comes when the ravioli is cut open, releasing a stream of sauce that spills across the plate, creating a dramatic and highly photogenic finish. Balanced, indulgent and intended for sharing, it reflects A Normal Day’s playful yet grounded approach to everyday dining.

The idea originated from AlMaki’s long-standing admiration for French culinary classics. Rather than reinventing well-loved dishes, he set out to reawaken interest in them through reinterpretation. The spark came after encountering a steak topped with sauce-filled ravioli, which led him to explore how tradition could be respected while still feeling modern and expressive.

Simple, flavourful, and just the right portion, A Normal Day’s The Crown is a solid dinner choice. While the restaurant tends to be busier during breakfast and lunch, there is a lot to be said for the quiet ambience of the restaurant, with music set at the right volume, for a relaxed and unhurried dinner with loved ones. The Crown will be available for a limited time exclusively at A Normal Day from 12th December, priced at AED 295. For more information, visit their website
