How Fady Khoury Is Disrupting Beauty with Dreamwaver

Solving styling struggles with consumer-first innovation

After more than 15 years working with global brands in the advertising industry, Fady Khoury made a decisive shift from agency life to entrepreneurship. In November 2024, he founded Dreamwaver, a UAE-born beauty-tech brand created to simplify styling routines with smart, user-friendly technology.

“I’ve always been passionate about solving real consumer problems,” said Khoury. “Dreamwaver was born from a simple insight: women deserve effortless beauty without salon dependency, time constraints, or complicated tools.”

Khoury’s career started in advertising, where he led campaigns for multinational brands across FMCG, automotive, tech, and lifestyle sectors. The transition to e-commerce and product development felt like a natural progression. “I wanted to combine my marketing experience with innovation to build a product that wasn’t just another item on the shelf but a functional solution with emotional resonance,” he said.

Dreamwaver’s first product, a smart rotating curling wand, was designed to eliminate the common frustrations associated with traditional hair tools. “Most curling wands are either too complicated, take too long, or aren’t travel-friendly. Dreamwaver simplifies the process with one button to perfect beach waves, no burns, no stress,” said Khoury.

Launching a new product in a brand-saturated market like the Middle East presented its challenges. “One of my proudest achievements has been bringing a homegrown innovation to life in such a competitive landscape,” he said. “Dreamwaver proves that the Middle East isn’t just a consumer of global trends, we’re fully capable of creating them too.”

When asked about the keys to building a profitable business, Khoury pointed to four essentials: “Solve a real problem, know your customer inside out, build a strong brand with purpose, and stay agile while managing costs wisely.”

The early stages of brand-building were particularly challenging. “Educating the market, standing out in a crowded space, and managing resources effectively were our biggest hurdles,” he said. “We’ve navigated these by staying adaptable, focusing on community, and solving customer pain points step by step.”

Advice for future founders
For the next generation of entrepreneurs, Khoury offered three clear pieces of advice. “First, believe in yourself and trust your instincts. Second, believe in your idea, but make sure you validate it through proper research. Third, stay curious, stay resilient, and be ready to adapt—because the journey is just as important as the destination.”

Patience, he added, has been a critical lesson. “The best advice I received was ‘Be patient.’ Challenges will always come, but resilience and consistency are what get you through.”

Managing the daily pressures of running a business requires focus. “I stay organised, prioritise what truly matters, and take things one step at a time,” said Khoury. “Reminding myself why I started helps keep me grounded.”

The global push toward sustainability has influenced Dreamwaver’s operations as well. “We’ve become more mindful of our choices, from packaging materials to our partners,” said Khoury. “Innovation should be responsible, especially in today’s climate-aware world.”

What sets Dreamwaver apart, according to Khoury, is its customer-centric foundation. “It isn’t just another styling tool. It’s a homegrown solution designed around real customer needs. We blend smart technology with ease of use, aesthetic design, and community-driven values. Our focus is to make beauty both accessible and meaningful.”

Reflecting on his journey, Khoury said he wouldn’t change anything. “We learn from both good and bad experiences. Those are what shape who we are today.”

Family remains at the core of his personal and professional values. “My family is my foundation and motivation,” he said. “In business, it’s about operating ethically and being community driven. I believe in building a strong, value-aligned team and culture to shape a long-lasting brand.”

As he has matured, Khoury’s priorities have evolved. “I used to be more self-focused, motivated by personal ambition. Today, I’m more family and community-centric, working toward building something meaningful for future generations.”

Inspiration comes from progress and purpose-driven leadership. “Seeing an idea come to life, evolve, and positively impact others is what drives me,” said Khoury. “I’m motivated by people who build with purpose, overcome challenges, and stay true to their values.”

Mental health, he added, remains a priority, though a constant challenge in a fast-paced entrepreneurial life. “I’ve been making a conscious effort to exercise regularly, reconnect with personal hobbies, and spend more quality time with my family,” he said. “These are the things that help me stay grounded.”

As Dreamwaver gains momentum, Fady Khoury’s approach remains anchored in a simple philosophy: brands that succeed are brands that solve.
