Live music, plate smashing, and exquisite Greek cuisine
Ammos, Dubai’s authentic Greek restaurant, is elevating the city’s culinary scene with two exceptional offerings that bring the essence of Greek hospitality to Dubai. Located in Rixos hotel JBR we arrived though slightly late due to the traffic on the JBR strip.
Located on the lower level of the hotel, the restaurant opens to the beach with indoor and outdoor seating options. As we entered the venue, we got a wonderful scent of salt air as we were taken to our seats. The first thing we noticed was that the music was not too loud and allowed guests to be able to converse freely.
Thursday night was Greek Night at Ammos and it had live entertainment that captures the vibrant spirit of Aegean celebrations. The night included performances by the talented and famous DuoViolins, energetic dancers, and a DJ spinning Greek and Mediterranean tunes. In true Greek fashion, with the time-honored tradition of plate smashing, allowing us to
participate in this exhilarating custom that symbolizes joy and abundance.
We indulged in Ammos’s full à la carte menu and some specials. Signature dishes are not to be missed, including the Beef Soutzoukakia Greek-style kebabs served with hand-cut fries, tzatziki, onions, fresh tomato, and pita bread, and the tender Lamb Chops, char-grilled to perfection and accompanied by dried figs, creamy Greek yogurt, Kalamata jus, and baby potatoes. The dessert was simple yet full of flavour, and their wide range of cocktails and mocktails puts them on par with most venues in Dubai.
Service was good; the staff was very attentive and were able to answer any questions we had. However, portion sizes didn’t accommodate the number of guests at the table, and thus this could be a problem for them in the long run.
Ammos, meaning “sand” in Greek has poolside access overlooking panoramic views of the Arabian Gulf, Bluewaters Island, and Ain Dubai.
