Big Boom Brunch Levels Up at Boom Battle Bar

Games, great drinks and zero brunch chaos

If the thought of bottomless drinks, street food feasts and competitive games sounds like a recipe for chaos, think again. The Big Boom Brunch at Boom Battle Bar, tucked inside the DoubleTree by Hilton in JBR, has returned, and I’m pleased to say that it’s managed to dial up the fun without losing its grip on safety, service or social sanity.

Running every Saturday from 1pm-4pm, the brunch combines everything you’d expect from a high-energy hangout (think creative cocktails, comfort food and a DJ-led soundtrack) with something far rarer: the ability to hold a conversation. That’s because Boom Battle Bar cleverly holds off on cranking up the volume until after 5pm, giving guests the space to enjoy their company before the post-brunch party kicks in.

Food arrives in stages, beginning with a massive sharing platter featuring corn ribs, cheesy nachos, halloumi fries, battered cauliflower and chicken tenders. Mains include indulgent bites like wagyu beef sliders with truffle mayo or pepperoni flatbreads, alongside vegan-friendly options like mozzarella and basil pizzas. Dessert? A rich brownie with vanilla ice cream, simple, sweet, and just enough.

But what makes this brunch stand out is the interactive element. Guests can try their hand at shuffleboard, darts, mini golf (officially known here as “crazier golf”), and even karaoke. Axe throwing is also on offer, but only for those who haven’t been drinking, a firm rule Boom Battle Bar enforces in the name of fun and safety.

Drinks are just as much part of the experience as the games. The bar serves up creative concoctions, well-executed classics, and thoughtful non-alcoholic options. With packages ranging from AED 225 for soft drinks to AED 375 for premium bubbles (with discounts for teachers and cabin crew), the value holds up too.

Games are enjoyed on a first-come, first-served basis, and while walk-ins are welcome, booking ahead is smart.

By the time the DJ ramps things up and the 2-for-1 happy hour kicks off after brunch, chances are you’ll already be plotting your return visit, whether it’s for karaoke revenge, golf redemption, or just another round of those sliders.
