Zaphira Nature Champions New Era of Vegan Haircare

Hanane Bouchouicha talks science-backed rituals for textured hair

Vegan haircare isn’t just a trend, it’s a movement. More people are paying attention to what they put on their hair, especially those with textured hair, which tends to be more delicate and needs extra care. Consumers want clean, effective, and ethical products without compromising on luxury.

Enter Zaphira Nature, born from Founder Hanane Bouchouicha’s journey with textured hair. “Growing up, I struggled to find products that worked, and when I finally did, they often felt clinical or uninspiring. I wanted to create something different, something elegant, something indulgent. That’s why we transformed the Curly Girl Method into the Curly Girl Ritual (CGR).”

She noted that haircare shouldn’t feel like a checklist; it should be a moment of self-care, infused with beautiful design, captivating scents, and effective botanical ingredients. Since launching, the brand has continued to evolve by listening to its community and refining its formulas to offer the perfect balance of nature and science.

How environmental factors affect textured hair
High temperatures and mineral-heavy (hard) water prevalent in the Middle East can pose significant challenges for textured hair, with the excessive heat leading to dryness and increased fragility. Additionally, minerals like calcium and magnesium in hard water cause buildup, leaving hair dull, frizzy, and more prone to breakage.

Bouchouicha added, “To combat these issues, Zaphira Nature’s formulations are enriched with hydrating and nourishing ingredients to maintain moisture and strength. Additionally, our products contain natural chelating agents that help to gently remove mineral buildup, ensuring that textured hair remains soft, manageable, and resilient despite environmental stressors.”

At the core of Zaphira Nature’s mission is sustainability and Bouchouicha said all products are 100% vegan and cruelty-free. They use natural ingredients sourced responsibly to minimise environmental impact, and this consideration extends to the packaging, which is elegant yet eco-conscious, and designed to be recyclable while maintaining a premium feel.

“We’re constantly refining our processes to minimise waste and reduce our environmental footprint because luxury and sustainability should go hand in hand,” she said.

Looking Ahead
Building on redefining textured haircare as an experience, Bouchouicha said the Aroma Ritual concept will elevate the haircare journey through scent and self-care.

“In Q3 2025, we’re launching a hair mist and diffuser based on our signature scent, Souffle Mediterranean, to extend this ritual beyond wash days. Expansion-wise, we’re focusing on the rest of the GCC this year and preparing for entry into Europe soon. Exciting times ahead!”
