Headed by Chef Hyukbin Kwon, you’re in for a treat you won’t soon forget
Okay Dubai foodies, gather around. Roka Dubai, the award-winning Japanese robatayaki restaurant, has launched an Omakase night experience, offering a not-to-be-missed culinary adventure every Sunday and Monday evening, from 6-10pm.
Stepping into the heart of the restaurant felt like being back in Japan, a country everyone should experience at least once and that is the hill I will die on. What makes the Omakase night special is that you are seated at one of the 15 seats at the Robata counter, where you can experience the skillful preparation of your meal up close and personal, enjoying the theatre of the open flame of the Robata grill. It’s an intimate arrangement despite
being in close proximity to complete strangers. Being so near the grill is warm and steamy and you smell your food before you even see it.
Headed by Chef Hyukbin Kwon, the Omakase night promises a delightful blend of signature dishes and new creations. The menu features a curated selection of chicken, beef, and lamb dishes seasoned and cooked to perfection.
Something for Every Palate
Chicken lovers can indulge in yakitori negima yaki (chicken skewers with spring onion) or sasami to yuzu shishitou (chicken breast with burnt shishitou peppers). For a touch of spice, try the sunagimo to karai ringo tare (chicken gizzard with zesty apple sauce).
Beef and lamb enthusiasts will find their cravings satisfied with dishes like gyu no ranichi kushiyaki to wasabi shiso chimichuri (Angus beef rump skewers with shiso and wasabi chimichuri) and kankoku fu kohitsuji (lamb cutlets with Korean spices). Vegetarians can also enjoy grilled vegetables and other plant-based options.
Finally, just when you think the whole delightful journey has ended, you get to finish it with an extraordinary selection of homemade sorbets and ice creams. Personally, I would return for the cherry sorbet alone.
At AED 250 per person, the Omakase night experience makes it an accessible way to explore the world of Robata cuisine, which coincides with Roka’s 20th anniversary this year.
To commemorate this milestone, the restaurant also has a “Roka 20 Specials” menu featuring beloved dishes from their past. Enthusiasts can rediscover nostalgic dishes like hot otsukuri (scallop sashimi with pickled cucumber) and gyu no tataki to truffle (seared beef striploin with black truffle dressing).
So, whether you’re a seasoned Roka fan or a curious newcomer, there’s something delicious waiting for you at their new Omakase night and anniversary specials.
